This site is dedicated to the memory of Frances Barker.

Frances Barker passed away, with her three children by her side, on June 5th, 2012. Fran was born in Rochdale, Lancashire, UK, on August 30, 1933 to her proud parents Tom & Kathleen Doyle. The youngest of three, she, along with her older siblings, Kathleen and Tom, grew up in the midst of the blitz and rationing of World War II which cemented her approach in life of hard work, thriftiness and compassion. Early on Fran was an academic star attending the prestigious Adelphi House School, a private all girls school in Salford, Lancashire, on scholarship. She then attending the Salford Technical College for 2 years where she was the only girl in this technical/science focused college. She married Joseph Barker in 1958 and between 1962-1965 had three children, Frankie, Paula and David. In 1969, Fran, Joe and the kids moved to the US and proceeded to live in New Jersey, Delaware, and Virginia over the next 6 years before settling back into New Jersey, where they owned and operated a Baskin Robbins until their retirement in 2006. Fran is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joe, who passed away in July 2011, and her brother, Thomas Patrick Doyle, who passed in November of 2001. She is survived by her children Frankie (Joseph) Johnson of Old Bridge New Jersey, Paula (Don) Baldwin, of Readington New Jersey, David (Judy) Barker of South Branch New Jersey, and her sister Kathleen (Daniel) McGuire of Toronto Canada. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Kristen, Alex, Eric, Ian, David, Carolyn, Kellie, John and Trevor. "Auntie Fran", as she was known, also has many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews strewn across three continents in the countries of England, Canada and New Zealand who will miss her also. Fran is much loved and will always be remembered by all her family and friends.
